Scarce original Springfield hunting knife from Indian War period with its original scabbard, serial #280 and U.S. Springfield marked. The blade shows its original bright finish, just some slight staining, and isfine to near excellent. The grip is very good plus to near fine with just slight handling and minor darkening, normal aging. The original leather scabbard is very good plus to near fine with some slight scratches,minor folding, original brass loops, and twice marked “Water Vliet Arsenal”. A seldom encountered accessory from the Indian War period which displays nicely with Officers Model Trapdoors, Indian War period arms, andU.S. Issue arms. Est: $700 - $1,400
