Scarce large Joseph Rodgers & Sons, No. 6 Norfolk St., Sheffield Multi-bladed exhibition sports knife circa 1860s-70s. The knife measures 6” with thirteen blades and tools. Master blade is a large lockback spear point flat ground brightlypolished blade with “Joseph Rodgers & Sons” stamped deeply across the front. Other blades and tools include a triangular leather punch or borer, large pen blade, saw blade with fish hook disgorger, long awl (gimlet), file blade, buttonhook, corkscrew, long screwdriver and shell extractor (parts missing). Slide out tools include scissors, lancet and long pricker. No pitting or patina and no evidence of sharpening and use. Top multi-grooved or threaded nickel silver bolstersand no bottom bolsters, with steel. Outstanding quality perfect “ diamond” checkered ebony scales, with milled nickel silver liners, with nickel silver crest shield on the front. This is a fabulous Exhibition knife, very exemplary ofJoseph Rodgers quality. The condition is near mint except for part of the shell extractor.
