Manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe, this is an attractive example of a pre-WWII Krieghoff "S" Code Luger. This Luger is marked with the early "S" Code over the chamber which was the secret wartime code indicating manufacture in 1936 and is a mid-production model with serial number "3602". There were only an estimated 4,000 "S" Code Lugers produced during this year of manufacture. The Luger has standard features that include the C-1 die marked toggle that has the "H" Krieghoff Anchor "K" with "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" marked below that. The left point of the anchor nearly touches the letter "H" and the word "SUHL" is slightly off-set so that the "I" in Krieghoff is slightly ahead of the letter "S" in SUHL with the flat bottom on the letter "U". The barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" 1st-stage 1 early Luftwaffe acceptance proof along with the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof on the right side. The barrel underside has the bore diameter, early "Eagle/2" acceptance proof and the small size full serial number. Typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front frame, barrel and left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits on the various small parts. Fitted with original Krieghoff brown checkered plastic grips with the small fine checkered pattern with the smooth border around the edge of each grip panel as manufactured by the Ritzmann firm. The back side of each grip panel has the correct mold numbers that consist of a small circled "HRS" (Herman Ritzmann & Sohne Company) and the impressed number "8964". The pistol has one original matching Krieghoff magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body with cast aluminum base. The side of the magazine body is marked with "HAENEL SCHMEISSER PATENT" with a small "Eagle L" Police proof. The aluminum base on the magazine is numbered "3602" with a single "Eagle/2" proof, stamped backwards above the serial number. The commercial leather holster is has an "eagle/2" stamped on the inside.
