This is a very fine example of a scarce WWII 1943 production British Enfield No. 4 MK 1 (T) sniper rifle that has been fitted with a later U.S. Military M84 telescope. The rifle itself, is the standard British issue sniper rifle as developed in the late 1930s that was used up through Korea and into the early 1960s, when it was replaced by the L42 model. There were approximately 26,000 of this model actually produced throughout production. The left side of the butt socket is marked "M47/1943/AL4145/F.T.R./TR". It is fitted with the original blade front sight with ear protectors, and the correct No. 4, MKI adjustable folding rear sight. It is fitted with the correct WWII two-piece semi-straight grip walnut stock and forend set with the removable screw-on birch cheekpiece, steel buttplate with compartment containing an original black plastic oiler. The stock has the standard acceptance proof marks in the pistol grip area and on the underside of the forend along with the rifle serial number. The rifle is fitted with a standard late production U.S. Army M84 telescope as used on the M1D and M1C sniper rifles. The scope is correctly marked on the nomenclature plate and is serial numbered 47167 and it has a set of spacer rings to adapt it to the British mount. The mounting bracket is stamped "K37778". It is complete with one matching magazine, a commercial leather sling, an original British No.15 wooden storage chest, that is marked on top "NO. 2 BSSD BONNINGTON WELLINGTON SALOP". It is also dated 1943 and the rifle serial number, "AL4145" has been hand painted on the inside of the lid. Also included with this rifle lot is a partial case of original 303 caliber, British MK7 Ball ammunition. The case contains three bandoleers, of 50 rounds each, with the head stamp of: "RG/7/55".

Serial Number: AL4145
Condition: Very fine with 85% of the arsenal refurbished finish with edge and high spot wear overall. The stock and handguard are both very good plus with a nice dark brown matching finish overall with clear markings. The Scope retains 25% of it's original blue finish overall with nice clear optics, with a few minor specks, and the windage and elevation knobs move freely. The storage chest is also very good, having been armory repainted, with minor handling marks overall with no cracks or damage to the box, with a clear label on the inside of the lid. A nice example of desirable WWII British sniper rifle with a replaced U.S. Army M84 sniper scope.
