Scarce Winchester model 1895 flat-side lever-action rifle, early production series, .40-72 caliber, 26” round barrel, crescent butt, blue finish, standard wood stocks, serial #614. The rifle shows 20-40% originalblue, drifting to patina. Most of the losses on the forward portion of the barrel and retaining considerable condition on the frame and rear of barrel. There is some light scattered erosion and surface pitting.Generally good edges, good barrel address and good caliber marking. One frame screw has been marred, the original period sights are retained in their proper dovetails. The stocks are good to very good with some minordings, mars, scratches, just normal aging and use. Good wood to metal fit, 30-50% thinning varnish. The action is good, bore is good. A desirable flat side with a low number and scarce caliber. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
