Introduced by Winchester in 1931, the Model 21 was one of the companies finest efforts with regard to quality, reliability and strength. The model was introduced as a production line gun and moved to the custom shop in 1960 but was in fact, a hand-built custom-made shotgun from the beginning. This Tournament Skeet Grade shotgun was manufactured from 1936 to 1959 and features a red bead front sight and nickel mid bead sight, on a concave matte rib barrel with 2-3/4 inch chambers and choked WS1/WS2 with ejectors. The top rear of the left barrel is marked with the two line address and "PATENTS PENDING" and the right barrel is marked MODEL 21 - WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK - 12 GAUGE". The bottom of the receiver is marked "TOURNAMENT / SKEET" ahead of the trigger guard. The water table is marked with "MADE IN U.S.A. MODEL 21" over the two line address and the U.S. patent dates. The Winchester oval proof is marked on the water table and on each side of the barrel flat. The barrels are number to the gun. Single trigger with selector, tang mounted safety and mounted with a checkered, nicely figured, walnut beavertail forearm and straight grip stock with a solid red Winchester recoil pad. Length of pull is 14".

Condition: Very fine as period refinished. The shotgun retains 98% factory quality blue finish with some thinning on the underside of the frame, some high edge wear and some minor wear on the outside edges of the fences. The wood has been professionally refurbished and the checkering recut, and the wood remains very fine with only the slightest storage marks and sharp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
