This is a very rare example of an early WWII Mauser Luger made with an ''out of sequence'' S/42 marked toggle assembly. These out of sequence Lugers were not a standard production model, as it is theorized that they were assembled after the end of normal Luger production in 1942 using whatever remaining parts were available at the factory, to meet the demands of war on the Eastern front. This specific example has the 1940 date on top of the chamber area with the ''S/42'' markings as noted on the front toggle assembly. The right side of the barrel extension and rear section of the barrel has the early "eagle/655" Waffenamt proofs next to the "eagle/swastika" firing proofs. It is correctly marked in the military fashion with the full serial number (310) on the front of the frame, underside of the barrel and left side of the barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number (10) on the various small parts. It has the standard sights and is fitted with a set of original Krieghoff brown plastic grips with no markings on the back that have the coarse checkering with the smooth border around the edge. It is complete with two, type three Army magazines with the blued ''PO8/fxo/eagle37'' marked magazine body and unmarked black plastic base with the reinforcing pin through the center. This pistol is complete with an excellent brown leather holster that is marked on the back with a circular maker's mark of: "GLEISS/BRANSCHWEIS/Eagle WaA750/1940'' and a WWII takedown tool that is marked with an "eagle/655" proofmark.
BBL: 4 inch
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: brown plastic checkered
Serial Number: 310n
Condition: Excellent overall with 90% of the original WWII blue finish with the receiver rails and front grip straps showing some old minor cold blue touch-up finish. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice checkering on both sides. The holster is fine with nice markings on the back with a super nice medium brown color overall with tight stitching, minor scuffing and handling marks in a few places overall. Both of the belt loops have a small double hole punched through them like the holster was hung up on a display board, however, the holes are not obtrusive or detrimental to the overall condition of the holster. The Luger has all matching numbers except the two magazines and grips as noted above. A nice example of a scarce ''out of sequence'' 1940 dated S/42 code Mauser Luger rig.
