Scarce U.S. Revenue Cutter Service Marked Jenks Mule Ear Breech Loading Carbine

Manufactured in 1843, this is both a rare and highly sought after example of a Jenks Carbine with U.S. Revenue Cutter Service marking. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked "W. JENKS " ahead of "U.S.R./P/1843", with the proper round loading aperture beneath the brass breech arm. The lock plate is marked "Wm JENKS", with the hooked and checkered "mule ear" hammer. Smooth straight wrist stock, properly without saddle ring, with two "U" marked barrel bands, and a "US" marked brass buttplate.
