Manufactured in 1860, this revolver is one of approximately 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers that were manufactured with the fluted cylinder. These revolvers appear intermittently throughout the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields and back strap heel cut for an attachable shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard and iron back strap. The grips are smooth one piece walnut. The barrel address is very faint and un-readable, as is the patent marking on the cylinder. Part of the "COLTS/PATENT" marking on the frame is visible. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, back strap, wedge and arbor pin. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip. No factory letter is available at time of description, but one should be ordered as many of these were shipped to the South prior to the Civil War.
