Scarce Remington Percussion Revolving .44 Caliber Rifle with Iron Mountings
Produced 1866-1879, with total quantity estimated at less than 1000. This rifle features fixed sights on a barrel marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A. / NEW MODEL". Casehardened loading lever and frame, marked "44" on the left side, with the correct style iron trigger guard with spur and scroll tang. Smooth straight grip stock with an iron buttplate. Most specimens have brass mountings, making this example even rarer.

Condition: Very good, with a smooth dark patina overall, sporadic traces of original finish on the barrel and traces of original silvered out case colors on the frame. There is some scattered minor spotting and pin point pitting. The right side of the wrist has a circular filled repair, otherwise the stock is fine with some minor dings and scratches. Period replacement cylinder pin. Mechanically fine.
