Founded in 1933 as a subset of the Sonderpolizei, and later absorbed by the SS, the Postschutz was responsible for providing physical security for the German Post Office, which was the controlling organization for mail, television, telephone and radio operations in the Reich. In 1939 the Postschutz-dolch was developed and authorized for wear by subordinates up to Senior NCOs. The blade has 9 5/8" double edged point blade with the Paul Weyersburg (Solingen) marking on the left ricasso. Nickel finished pommel and guard, with the latter shaped like a spread winged eagle with a black swastika on its chest, smooth wooden grip is marked with the post office logo. The underside of the guard is marked "117/ DRP". Black enamel painted scabbard, with nickel throat, tip, suspension band and chain belt hanger.

Condition: Fine, the blade has minor scattered handling marks with a few very small chips on one of the blades edge. The grip is very good with some minor scratches and dents with a chipped area near the guard on the eagle side of the grip. The pommel and guard are very good showing minor handling marks. The scabbard is very good with some of the black enamel chipped off in areas while the nickel parts and chain hanger have some handling marks and scratches.
