Scarce  Flat Lock Waters  Contract Percussion Pistol

Originally manufactured by Asa Waters of Millbury, Massachusetts, this piece was originally manufactured as a percussion piece; not as a converted flintlock Model 1836. The pistol has a swivel ramrod and strap on the barrel band that extends to the side plate. The buttcap is integral with the iron back strap. The lock is marked with the eagle head over "A.H. WATERS & Co/MILBURY MASS". There are no other visible markings on the pistol except for the letter "N" on the trigger guard plate.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have had a protective coat of varnish applied some time ago leaving the metal with a goldish appearance. There is a small amount of minor pitting on the lock. The stock has been refinished and remains fair with an area of heavy sanding on the lower right grip area, two minor cracks on the left upper front and a few minor chips around the lock. The rear portion of the trigger guard plate is ill-fitting. The action needs adjustment. The lock markings are clear.
