This fluted cylinder variation is rare, manufactured from 1863 to 1865 with only a few hundred produced. These revolvers are found in the 3 digit or less serial number range. The revolver features factory floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the muzzle end barrel flats, rear of the barrel, frame. Cylinder flats and back strap. The barrel address has a scallop border and there is scallop bordering on the top strap, frame sides and back strap. There is a leaf design on the trigger guard. The top barrel flat is marked "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y./RIDERS' PT AUG. 17, 1858 MAY 3, 1859", (second line faint), and the matching serial number is marked on the bottom barrel flat and the left side of the frame, under the grip. This revolver has the distinctive full fluted cylinder, the front sight is absent, frame notch rear sight, brass trigger guard, was finished blue, had a casehardened hammer and niter blue trigger. Fitted with smooth ivory grips.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a brown and gray patina with some scattered minor pitting. Almost all of the silver remains on the trigger guard which has darkened with age. The grips are very good with some minor age cracks on the bottoms, small hairline cracks around the screw escutcheons, a couple minor chips and a caramel patina. The engraving is clear. The action fine.
