This is an excellent example of a very early Production 1914 Dated Crown Erfurt Artillery Luger, rig that has the original and matching walnut board shoulder stock, 1914 dated brown leather holster, shoulder straps and leather straps. These early Erfurt Artillery rigs are getting more and more difficult to find all the time as they saw hard use and most were altered under the Versailles Treaty. The chamber area is dated 1914 and the front toggle is stamped with the "Crown/ERFURT" markings. The barrel extension has the Imperial Army "Crown/Gothic" letter proofs and Imperial Eagle firing proof. The Imperial Eagle firing proof and Crown/Script letter proof is also repeated on the right and left breech end of the barrel respectively. The Erfurt "Crown/RC" proof on the rear toggle with most parts marked with a single "Crown/Gothic" letter proof mark and or "Crown/Erfurt RC" proofmark. This example is fitted with the correct Artillery tangent rear sight graduated to 1-8, (100-800 meters) and both the front and rear sights have the fine-tune adjustments found on the early Artillery Lugers. This luger is complete with one nickel plated, wooden base magazine that is stamped on the base with a "Crown/Script Letter Proof/3895/Crown Script Letter Proof" This example is complete with an original 1914 dated brown leather holster and the original, matching, numbered 2353 (no "a" suffix, but correct) walnut board shoulder stock, leather boot and shoulder straps. The back side of the shoulder straps are ink stamped with a Weimar era property mark of "B.A. IV.". The walnut stock itself has a single Imperial proof on the back side. The holster is complete with an original WWI take down tool and original cleaning rod.
BBL: 8 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 2353a
Condition: Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish with minor finish loss on the edges and high spots overall. The various small parts retain 90% of their straw colors. The grips are excellent with nice original, checkering on both sides, that shows just light wear across the tops of the checkering. The stock attaching iron retains 98% of it's original blue finish and the stock itself is near excellent with a nice honey color, showing minor handling marks and light scratches with a clear sharp proof. The leather holster, straps and leather boot are all very fine with a nice even original brown color, with some minor scuffing and age cracking in a couple of areas, but for a 1914 holster this is really nice. This is really a very nice all original, unaltered early 1914 Erfurt Artillery rig.
