Scarce Continental Arms Pepperbox Revolver
Patented by Charles Converse and Samuel Hopkins in the late 1860s and produced by Bacon Manufacturing Co. under the Continental trade name, only around 800 were produced. Designed with a round cylinder mated directly to a fluted barrel cluster, and secured to the frame with a ring. Marked "CONTINENTAL ARMS CO. NORWICH.C/ PATENTED AUG. 28, 1866" around the cylinder, with the serial number on the rear face. Checkered hammer and spur trigger, with a loading gate on the right side of the recoil shield, flared butt and a smooth pair of grips.

Condition: Very fine, with 40% of the original blue finish, concentrated in the barrel flues, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the higher areas and some minor handling marks. 60% of the original silver is present on the frame, with a dark aged patina on the remaining silver and a gray and brown patina on the exposed steel. Case colors are strongest on the hammer, the remainder silvering out. Grips are excellent, with most of the original varnish, light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
