Scarce Colt SAA revolver, .38 Colt cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered hard rubber grips, #351745 in overall excellent condition showing approx. 98%+ original blue finish on barrel, cylinder, straps and ejectorhousing with feathering marks still visible on both sides of the front sight; approx. 96% original case colors on the frame and approx. 99% original case colors on the hammer; fine bore, crisp action, sharp markings and fine grips;accompanied by two factory letters, both confirming caliber, barrel length, finish and grips, indicating shipment to L.S. Knoek Co., Hartford, CT. on March 6, 1929, one gun in shipment. According to Graham, Kopec and Moore’sA Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver, A Thirty Year Anniversary Edition, on page 163, “Although after 1912 the .41 Colt caliber was no longer advertised in the company’s sales catalogs, a limited number of .41 Colt SAs continued to beassembled and shipped . . . . Likewise, while most of Colt’s 1913 through 1922 catalogs were available to our research, no mention of the .38 Colt chambering was found. However, SAs in this caliber were shipped in late 1915 and early 1916.
