With a limited production of 1,000, these Model 1862 Cavalry Carbines are generally associated with New York Cavalry units as the state volunteer cavalry is known to have been issued these carbines. Blade and adjustable sights and saddle ring mounted on left side of frame. Left side of frame has the 1859 patent marking and Navy inspection makings "P/HKH". Smooth straight grip stock with sling swivel and brass buttplate.

Condition: Very good. The barrel retains strong traces of original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains 30% plus of the original case colors. All marking are crisp and clear The stock is fine with some scattered pressure marks but is otherwise very good. Overall a rare variation U.S. Navy marked Sharps & Hankins 1862 calvary carbine.
