Operating between 1839 and 1851, the partnership between Orison Blunt and the Syms brothers, William and Samuel, was best known for the production of pepperbox, sidehammer, and underhammer pistols. This particular model, typically seen with a cast iron frame, forearm optional, is instead made from cast German silver with integral matching forearm, showing scroll engraving on the sides and top of the frame, sunburst pattern at the tip, simulated wedge escutcheons, and a ray pattern on the bolster. The hammer and lockplate are also scroll engraved. Fitted with a bronze tipped ramrod and checkered bag shaped grips. In a green felt lined hardwood case with a Goldmark/Winchester cap tin, loose cast balls, a powder measure, key and a nipple wrench. A plate on the lid is inscribed "1883/J.E.Taylor/Brooklyn".
