Scarce Black Powder Frame Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Cartridge Revolver, #146830, .41 Colt CF cal., 7.5'' round barrel marked ''Colt's Pt. F. A. Mfg. Co. Hartford, CT U.S.A.'' in block font, left frame with two-line 1871-75 patent dates and circular Rampant Colt logo, ''41 Colt.'' marked on left side of barrel, originally blued and case hardened finishes, steel grip straps with two-piece checkered hard rubber grips having the Rampant Colt within an oval cartouche at top. All visible matching serial numbers; loading gate correctly marked ''32''. Mfg'd. 1892; originally shipped to Montgomery Ward & Co., Chicago, on November 30, 1892, in a shipment of just one gun. Condition is very good, with smooth metal retaining approx. 65% thinning and toning original blue to barrel (losses mainly confined to left side and muzzle), 80% deep blue to top and bottom of ejector rod housing, gunmetal gray cylinder with blue in flutes, 10% original blue on front triggerguard bow, the balance gunmetal gray. Frame and hammer retain darkened and silvered case colors; most screws have unmarred slots. Grips show wear to checkering and Colt logo, no chips or cracks, and fit well. Action is crisp and sure, bore is shiny with defined rifling. This Single Action, in the desirable ''Cowboy'' caliber, is accompanied by a 1971-dated Colt factory letter verifying all the above features and signed by famed Colt historian R.H. Wagner.
