Savage model 1899 lever-action rifle, 25” octagon barrel, factory engraved, blue finish, fancy checkered walnut stocks, hard-rubber buttplate, tang sight, .303 Savage caliber, folding Beech type front sight, serial #46346. Solid frame. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine condition with 85-95% original blue on barrel, thinning on the edges, some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting in a few small areas. The frame shows 75-85% blue thinning on the edges and bottom, slight beginning normal age. The stocks show a select burl grain with fancy checkering with flaming ends, and panels on either side of the action. The wood shows some even handling and use, light cleaning, but at least very good plus to near fine overall with a tight wood to metal fit and a few storage scratches and marks. The barrel address is sharp and crisp, the bore is near fine, original front and rear sight are retains and the barrel is mounted with a Lym folding tang sight of the proper type made for Savage rifles. The lever shows 80-90% original case hardening. The engraving is simple scroll style. An attractive and high grade Savage rifle that is early in the production range. Est: $3,000
