San Ildefonso Pueblo Brown Pottery
This San Ildefonso Pueblo Brown Pottery is a beautiful piece that was hand built, fired & stone polished by Carlos Dunlap. This unusual brown on brown piece was an innovative coloring that Carlos perfected. It's decorated with traditional patterns & is about 3-5/8" tall & 4-1/4" wide. Stand adds another 1" to height. Recently acquired at auction, it has some light scratching that can be seen on the high shine areas. Otherwise, it's in excellent condition. Signed. This San Ildefonso Pueblo Brown Pottery is a one of a kind & sadly, there will be no others made by this talented artisan. Carlos Sunrise Dunlap Jr. (1958-1981) career was tragically cut short by a car accident. He was on his way to becoming a major force in pottery innovations, such as the brown on brown that is offered here. His San Ildefonso mother, Carmelita & Apache father, Carlos Sr. were a wealth of knowledge to him & instrumental in his desire to follow in their footsteps.
