SW Cross-shaped Cripple Creek Turquoise Pendant
This lot includes a Vintage Southwest Cross-shaped Cripple Creek Turquoise cabochon Pendant, Faux Turquoise polymer bead four-strand necklace with spiny oyster shells, jingles, and sequins. Native American beadwork involves the use of both natural and manmade items. This necklace is a good example of both mediums being employed to create a beautiful piece. The cross-shaped cabochon is Cripple Creek turqouise from Teller, Colorado, and has a nice light blue hue with slight matrix visible. The polished Spiny Oyster shells have definite striations and color variations in soft pink. The polymer heishi bead turquoise strands are graduated in size, approximating both Cripple Creek and Carico turquoise blues and greens. The jingles are also graduated and stamped. Unable to locate a maker's signature stamp. Metal pieces exhibit a rich, uniform patina throughout, no obvious damage noted. Measures 18.5"L closed.
