SCARCE JAPANESE 02/45 LAST DITCH BOLT ACTION RIFLE
. Cal. 6.5 Jap. NSN. Bbl. 31 1/2". Blade front sight. Fixed aperture rear sight. Scarce late war Japanese navy rifle made using older unnumbered Type 35 naval rifle actions & newer training rifle parts to create an emergency rifle. These rifles are called the "02/45" model by collectors. It is believed the Izawa Firearms company made these rifles but it is known for sure who assembled them. Receiver top has fully intact mum & Type 35 charcthers. Left side of receiver has Tokyo arsenal marking. Bolt bears an assembly number "475". Front action screw hole is vacant. Asian hardwood stock w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. Stock & handguard are duffel cut under rear band. Cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked Type 30 training bayonet w/ scabbard. Scabbard & metal parts of bayonet have black enamel finish w/ notable dent in scabbard, scattered flaking & oxidation. Blade is brightly finished w/ some oxidation. CONDITION: left grasping groove has square patch repair, stock otherwise shows a couple chips, some abrasions, scattered dings & handling wear. Metal retains 60% arsenal blue w/ scattered oxidation, fading & some dried grease. Bore shows scattered frosting & pitting w/ worn rifling. (23-5919/MJC). CURIO. $300-500.
