Rusty relic DA revolver mounted on partially burned piece of barn wood with old plaque attached “Rosewood, January, 1923”. This rusty’s condition shows fire damage and is fully loaded and frozen with erosion and oldrust from being in the ground for some time; the grips are gone and the gun appears to be a Smith & Wesson M&P Model with a lanyard ring. Accompanying this lot is a copy of a historical account entitled “The RosewoodReport” produced by the Tallahassee Democrat Newspaper concerning racial unrest in Florida during the early 1920’s and the article’s writing was assisted by staff of Florida State University and the University ofFlorida. The report indicates that from January 4th thru the 7th, the predominantly black town of Rosewood, FL. was the subject of widespread violence by whites concerning rumors of an earlier attack on a white womanby a black man in that area.
