The sides of the bow are ebony inlaid with pearl inlay into the ebony in forms of birds, scrolls, and animals. The pearl inlays are scrimshaw decorated with horn accents. The bottom of the bow is also stag-horn inlaid and decorated with scrolls and foliate panels. The bow itself is etched on all sides and remains in fine to excellent condition (this is an extremely ornate feature we have never seen on another crossbow of this period). The trigger plate is etched, the rear sight is engraved and pierced, and generally no surface of the bow has gone without decoration by its original makers. Bow is secured to the stock by its original gold gilded bullion cord, and also the bow is equipped with its original tassels and cords and is original bow string. The horn guide and cocking piece are retained at the original rear sight is also retained. Condition is fine to excellent for its age showing some use and attachment of cranequin which caused slight rubbing to one inlay, minor cracking, very small
