For your consideration is this Rare Vintage Royal Bayreuth Cracker Jar, "Rose Tapestry" finish, circa 1902 - late 1920s. Blue hallmark on bottom of exterior. Generally, green marks were used from 1885 to 1902, blue marks (the most common) were used from 1902 until the late 1920s. The city of Bayreuth is famous for many things, but cannot claim production of this collectors' favorite porcelain. Royal Bayreuth Porcelain was made in the city of Tettau, Germany. "Bayreuth" may have been added as acknowledgement that the science used to create the fine white porcelain was promoted by Alexander von Humbolt a resident of Bayreuth. A popular tapestry that some collect exclusively is the beautiful Rose Tapestry. They can be found in single colors (yellow, pink and silver) as well as multi-colored. Many of these are also found decorated with gold trim. This beautiful Cracker Jar is in very fine condition with extremely slight wear noted along bottom edge, some gold trim fading noted along mouth rim, side and top handles, no other obvious marring noted.
