Gray-green checked tweed jacket worn by actor Ronald Colman in The Late George Apley (1947). Colman was the title role in the film, a stern Boston patriarch. Includes a United Costumers label on the inner lining, with Colman's name handwritten on it. Jacket has three buttons down the front and is stamped Suit 98 on the inner sleeve. British-born Colman served in World War I and afterwards began stage acting, a venture which eventually led him to Hollywood stardom in films such as Clive of India, Lost Horizon for Frank Capra and The Prisoner of Zenda. In the year 1930 he was nominated for two Academy Awards, one for Condemned and one for Bulldog Drummond. Colman would eventually win the award in 1947 for A Double Life.
