Roberts Model 1861/63 Conversion Rifle-Musket

Patented by Brigadier General B.S. Roberts of the U.S. Army, the Roberts Model conversion rifle-musket was manufactured from late 1869 to 1870 with 5,000 manufactured. The lock plate is dated 1865 and has the eagle with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" ahead of the hammer. Three leaf rear sight and sling swivels. The left side of the receiver is marked "ROBERT'S PAT./JUNE 11, 1867." Full length stock with two script letter cartouches on the left stock flat

Fine. The metal surfaces showing an aging bright appearance with some scattered very minor pitting (heavier on the buttplate). The stock is very good with a hairline crack on the left side of the forearm, some scattered minor handling marks and some chipping of the wood on the left side of the action. The cartouches are crisp.
