Remington model 1888, .44-40 caliber single-action revolver, 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, wood grips, serial #4. The pistol shows no lanyard ring and 75 type barrel address with correct 90-style rib, and these have now been identified as the model 1888 by Remington collectors. The frame is stamped “44” at top left and the pistol chambers .44-40 caliber. The metal surfaces show 40-60% original nickel drifting on the original barrel and cylinder. Some holster wear at front left of barrel from being carried in a holster and some light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting where the finish has lifted. The front sight has been slimmed down about half way, the grips show some even wear. The barrel address is good, the action is good but a little loose. The bore is good. Est: $6,000 - $8,000
