Remington No. 1 Rolling Block rifle, .38 centerfire caliber, 30” half-round half-octagon barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish, standard wood stocks, serial #6938. The barrel shows a good left handRemington address with “38” stamped on bottom of barrel, 2” in front of forend. The barrel shows 30-50% blue drifting to patina and brown with some light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting and some slightly heavierpitting just ahead of the area where the octagon goes to round. The frame shows 10-20% case hardening drifting to silvery grey with some erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The stocks are good and would havebeen very good except there is a small chip on the left side where the stock meets the frame, the comb has been altered slightly and there are a couple of small chips where the top meets the frame. The action is good, bore is bright, original rear sight is in its proper dovetail as is the front sight. These Remington rifles were used on the early frontier. Est: $750 - $1,500
