Remington New Model Army Revolver

Manufactured circa 1863 to 1875, the New Model Army revolver was one of the major handguns of the Civil War with this example having a two digit serial number. The top barrel flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858/E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A/NEW-MODEL." The serial number "60" is stamped on the left side of the frame under the grip with the barrel not numbered and the grips numbered to another gun. Small letter "A" inspection marks is on the bottom barrel flat, trigger guard and grip panel bottoms. Pinched blade front sight, grooved top strap and brass trigger guard. Fitted with smooth grips.

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus original high polished blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The undersized replacement grips are very good with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
