Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver
Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, this is an example of a Transitional Model of the Remington New Model Army Revolver. Transitional Models have the Old Model style barrel marking without "New Model" ("PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK. U.S.A") and the cone front sight. Single letter inspection marks (A, J, and G) are found on most of the components. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.
BBL: 8 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 44 percussion
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 30344
Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 50% of the original blue finish and the loading lever retains traces of blue in the protected areas, with an overall balance a smooth brown patina with some minor spotting. The cylinder and frame have a smooth brown-gray patina. The slightly ill-fitting replacement grips are fair with a couple chipped toes and some texturing to the finish. Grips could not be removed. The action needs work as the cylinder does not rotate when the action is cycled.
