Martially marked & inspected single action percussion revolver contracted by the Union Army during the American Civil War. Features an 8" octagonal barrel, pinched post front sight, 'v' notched rear sight, loading lever, non-fluted six shot cylinder with safety notches, smooth wide trigger, knurled hammer spur, brass trigger guard, solid frame and two-piece walnut grips with boxed GP cartouche. The barrel is stamped "8577[?]", the cylinder is marked "59", "Q6" & "4", the frame is stamped with a sideway "8" & "7040" and the grips appear to be marked "27046"(left) & "8604"(right). Various inspector marks are found on the barrel, frame, cylinder, triggerguard, loading lever and grips. Revolver exhibits a aged mottled grey/brown patina with a few small traces of finish in the protected areas. Action is in good working order, the bore is excellent, markings are fair and the refinished wood grips are good with blemishes. Condition is NRA Good. ***Antique Firearm***
