Remington New Model 1858 percussion revolver, .44 cal., 8” octagon barrel, patina finish, wood grips, #26645 period inscribed on backstrap “Capt. James Starr, 6th PA Cav.”. This gun is in overall good condition showing and old cleaning to metal surfaces that have returned to a light brown patina with scattered areas of erosion with an area of moderate pitting on the right side of the barrel nearest the muzzle; good action, wornbore, overall good grips with some wear, scratches and mars from carry and storage and traces of inspector’s cartouche on the bottom of the left grip. Accompanying information indicates Captain Starr was acommander with the 6th PA Cavalry who were formed and ordered to Washington, D.C. on December 10, 1861 and assigned to the Army of the Potomac until August, 1864 when they joined the Army of the Shenandoah.
