Remington Model 1858 New Model .44 caliber percussion revolver with US military inspections from Civil War era, serial number 123704. The revolver shows 50% to 70% original blue that is drifting and toningnicely with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The barrel address is sharp and fully legible. The front sight is also original. There is some very bright blue in protected areas. The revolvershows a full complement of inspection marks and a trace of cartouche on the left grip. The grips have been cleaned slightly and re-linseed oiled. The grips still fit quite nicely with a large chip at the left toe. The action is tight and well-timed. The hammer shows traces of case hardening. The bore is very good plus and still bright. Est.: $1,500 -$3,000.
