Rare original Vine scroll engraved Colt Second Model Dragoon, .44 cal. percussion, traces of original finish, French style cased in rosewood box with accessories, serial #8487. One of only a few of engraved SecondModels in the Vine scroll known; other engraved specimens are numbers 8478 and 9625, which are a similar pattern and estimates of less than 6 still existing. This Colt was discovered in Texas in the 1950s and waspictured in the "Texas Gun Collectors" magazine, which we were unable to locate at time of cataloging. The Dragoon shows a light gray to brown patina finish with strong traces of finish mixed, scattered light tomoderate erosion and surface pitting, and a couple areas of slightly heavier pitting that are the size of a thumbprint. The cylinder shows 50-70% cylinder scene, with well defined characters and Model USMR and Coltspatent lightly visible. The grips are good with traces of varnish, some even wear from carry and use. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment.
