Rare original 1860 iron-frame Henry rifle, .44 rimfire caliber, serial #157. In untouched original very good condition with provenance as belonging to American Indian activist Adam “Fortunate” Eagle, who was oneof the leaders in the Indian occupation of Alcatraz, 1969-1971. With autographed copy of his book detailing this event entitled Alcatraz! Alcatraz! The inside fly page is inscribed with a sentiment to our consignorand mentions ‘Old Iron Frame’, which was believed to have descended in his Sioux family until first sold approx. 1969. This exact rifle is pictured in the preeminent work on the Henry rifle by Les Quick, page 52 (full color picture) and 226 (our consignor’s display). The rifle shows crisp metal surfaces with traces of original blue, some scattered light erosion and minor surface pitting. The barrel address is crispand sharp as the edges are crisp and sharp. The hammer shows bright case hardening on its front, the bore is bright and shows little to almost no use. Metal surfaces are extremely crisp. The stock shows 90% plus
