Rare massive Spanish spear point Bowie knife and sheath with an overall length of approx. 15” and blade of 9-1/2” long and approx. 2-1/2” across; stag horn grip, etched flat pommel, S-shaped guard with colored engraving; blade shows majority of its original polish with colored etching design work on both sides including a castle on one side and incorporation of “Artilleria Fabrica De Toledo 1892” into the etching below the castle. In addition to the knife being in overall very good condition, the sheath is likewise very good with the metal throat and tip decorated en suite with the engraving on the knife; the leather body of the sheath is very good with stitching intact. The Toledo Armoury was founded by Eusebio Zuloaga who was born in 1808 and died in 1898; he was a Chief Armourer of the Royal Armoury. Zuloaga’s work are highly prized by collectors and were carried by Napoleon, Queen Isabella and many heads of state and military officers. Est.: $900-$1,800.
