Manufactured in 1847, this is both a rare and highly sought after example of a Jenks-Remington carbine with U.S. Revenue Cutter Service marking. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked "W. JENKS / U.S.R. / P / 1847 / CAST-STEEL". The lock plate is marked "REMINGTON'S HERKIMER / N.Y." The underside of the breech lever is stamped with the number "7 / 30". Barrel is brown and the trigger, lock, hammer, and breech block have a casehardened finish. The buttplate, trigger guard, and barrel bands are brass. Front sight is integral to the front barrel band. The carbine has a smooth full length stock with no markings. As a U.S. Revenue Cutter Service carbine, the firearm correctly has a round loading aperture and is without a sling ring. Complete with a brass tipped iron cleaning rod.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 30% of original brown finish in the protected areas with the balance a mottled gray patina with some fine pin point pitting (mostly near the muzzle). The brass has a fine attractive "mustard yellow" appearance. The trigger, breech block, hammer and lock retain traces of original case colors. The stock is fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches with an area of chipping around the rear of the lock. Mechanically excellent.
