Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1894
Manufactured in 1911, this Model 1894 Carbine features special order double set triggers and deluxe nicely figured checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock. It is estimated that only 1 of approximately 235 Model 1894s had a set trigger configuration (Madis "The Winchester Book", page 419). Adding to the rarity of this carbine is the fact that only 1 of approximately 725 Model 1984s had a pistol grip stock. The wood is 3x grade, the checkering is style "H" and there is a hard rubber Winchester grip cap. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and marked "32-40" at the breech. The Winchester oval proof is marked on the top of the receiver at the breech, the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1894/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF." and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Standard pinned blade front and folding ladder carbine rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever, saddle ring and stud mounted on the left rear of the receiver and steel carbine buttplate. This carbine is nearly identical in configuration to another Model 1894 in this auction.

Stock: walnut
Gauge: 32-40
Finish: blue

Serial Number: 559633
Condition:
Good as refinished with most blue finish on the barrel and magazine tube. The barrel bands show some minor pitting. The receiver retains 80% of the blue finish which has a matte appearance and a smooth gray patina on the balance. Almost all of the bright case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The replacement wood has been professionally refurbished and remains very fine with only light handling/storage marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
