Introduced in 1891 with this scarce target example having a 6 inch barrel. The revolver has the special order target sights consisting of a pinned blade front sight and adjustable notch rear sight on the barrel latch with wide casehardened checkered hammer. The top of the barrel rib is stamped with the two line Springfield address/patent dates marking. The matching serial number is on the butt and rear face of the cylinder with barrel latch unmarked. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger guard. The revolver is fitted with checkered grips featuring the S&W monogram imprinted at the tops.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 85% original bright blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The hammer and trigger guard 40% original bright case colors otherwise faded to an attractive gray. The grips are excellent with some scattered minor handling marks and some discoloration on the backs. Overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
