This is a rare Walther "Model PPK" pistol with a set of original "Party Leader" Eagle and Swastika embossed, brown checkered, wrap-around grips with an original "Party Leader" marked holster which was given or owned by Dr. Rudolf Schunicke. The names of both the original owner, Dr. Schunicke and the GI that captured this holster are marked inside the holster in an old ink markings. The Doctor's name is correctly written in old German as he originally inscribed it there over the serial number of the pistol and farther down is the GI's information; "C.O. Winkelvoss/service number/428 TH". Accompaying this specific lot is a copy of the Party membership record of Dr. Schunicke and a copy of the service record of the GI. Dr. Schunicke was an early member of the Nazi party joining in January 1932, and carried the party number, "1374383". He was located in the area of Jena in the province of Thüringen. The GI that captured this pistol was Charles Winkelvoss, who resided in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area; noted his service record included with this lot. No other information on either person is available, however further research on the German Doctor could provided additional historical information. This specific pistol is a pre-war model that has the standard six digit serial number on the right side of the frame, followed by the single letter "k" with a single "Crown N" proof over the chamber area and middle of the slide. The left side of the slide is marked with the "WALTHER" inside a Banner next to the two line address of "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis, / Walther's Patent Cal 7.65" followed by "Mod PPK". As noted above the holster is an original, very rare, pre-war German "Party Leader" holster that has the large 1 3/4 inch wide German "Party Leader" spread wing eagle across the top of the holster flap that is clutching the Swastika which is surrounded by a wreath. The lower closure of the holster is correctly marked with the "D.R.G.M./Crossed Rifles/Akah" logo of Albrecht Kind. The pistol is complete with a single magazine with the Walther Banner on the lower left side of the magazine body above the brown finger extension.
