Rare Navy Trophy Champion Remington Model 720 Bolt Action Rifle

This Model 720 was based on the Model 1917 rifle and was intended to be an updated modern sporter. Eventually, they were sold to the military and given as trophies, prizes, etc. after WWII. About 2,000 were produced for the government and a small number for civilian use. This rifle was used as an award for the Interservice Champion. The floor plate is marked "Secretary of the Navy Trophy/1995 InterService Champion/Msgt D.L. Heuman Score 991-51x". Heuman served in the U.S. Marine Corps. It features a ramp blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and a polished bolt numbered to the gun. The one piece pistol grip stock features checkering, sling swivels and checkered factory buttplate. The left side of the buttstock has a cross cannons cartouche and the inspector mark "FJA".

Excellent plus. The rifle retains 99% original blue finish with a couple small areas thinning to a brown. The stock is also excellent plus showing a few minor handling marks with overall crisp checkering and clear cartouche and inspector mark. Mechanically excellent.
