Rare Morse patent breech-loading 3-barrel set, made by Muzzy and Co, Worchester, Mass. Cased with accessories. W. M. Morse patented an early breech loading center-fire cartridge mechanism which was used as an alteration of .69 caliber muskets at Springfield and Harper’s Ferry. This design was also used to manufacture the Morse Carbine made at Greeneville S.C. This rare set features three barrels. The first being a carbine barrel of 25-5/8”, approx. .52 caliber centerfire with rifle bore. The second also .52 caliber centerfire, approx. 31”” heavy octagon barrel measuring nearly 1” across the flats, and a 30-3/4” shotgun barrel of 12ga centerfire. The carbine barrel shows a brown patina finish and a military type rear sight with about 70-80% original brown. Some light to moderate pitting on the left edge, generally very good overall with fair to good bore. The octagon barrel retains 90% original rust blue, some pitting at the bottom front muzzle, about the size of a thumb. Bore is fine to excellent. The shotgun barrel shows 90% original tobacco brown with striping, just some slight loss at the muzzle and edges, near excellent overall, with fine bore. Each barrel is equipped with its own forend
