Rare Mauser Banner Model 1935/06 First Contract Portuguese Navy Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

Estimate: $3500 - 5500
This Luger pistol is one of about seventy examples made by the Mauser factory under contract for the Portuguese Navy in 1935, that were serial numbered in the 2500v to 2571v range, that used the 1906 variation frame with the grip safety, no stock lug on rear grip strap and four inch 9mm caliber barrel. These pistols saw extensive use until the 1970s. This pistol is marked on the toggle with the standard Mauser "Banner" logo with no chamber date or markings with standard sights. It has commercial "crown/U" test proofs on the bottom of the barrel, left side of the receiver and on the left side of the breechblock. The safety marking on the left side of the toggle housing is marked "SEGURANCA" and the extractor is properly marked "CARREGADA". The numbered parts on this example are all matching with the full serial number "2555v" stamped on the front of the frame above the trigger guard, the number "2555" on the bottom of the barrel and the left side of the receiver, and the last two digits "55" on the various small parts, and including the steel sheet magazine with aluminum bottom which is properly marked "2555/+" without the letter suffix. The pistol is fitted with checkered walnut grips.
