Rare Inniskilling Dragoon Officer's 1834 Pattern Helmet

Estimate: $8500 - 14000
This is an officer's 1834 pattern helmet for the Inniskilling Dragoons. The gilt skull and peaks are topped by a high gilt comb bearing decorative sprays of acorns and oakleaf. On the comb is a lion head finial. The side of the skull bears decorative gilded oakleaf sprays and scrolls adorn the rear peak. The regimental title scroll covers the top of the front peak and bears the inscription "INNISKILLING DRAGOONS". Large flower ear bosses suspend leather backed gilt chin scales with a buckle clasp. The rayed helmet plate has the Hanoverian Coat-of-Arms with the "WATERLOO" honor in a banner underneath the coat-of-arms. The brow band is black leather with a quilted silk lining and the peaks are lined with green skived leather.
