This Colt Model 1849 revolver has the scarce factory nickel-plated finish. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame and the left side trigger guard shoulder is marked "31 CAL". The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, all have an "N" above or below the number designating it to be nickel plated at the factory. The arbor pin and cylinder are marked with the partial serial number "8792", and the wedge and loading lever are un-numbered. The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLTS PATENT" over the partial serial number. Post front and hammer notch rear sights and fitted with a one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Gauge: 31 percussion
Finish: nickel
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 328792N
Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 90% plus original nickel finish with a few scattered small areas of flaking. The finish is beginning to frost in most areas. There is a crude illegible name lightly scratched (not through nickel) into the butt. The grip is also very fine with 80% original varnish remaining, showing some minor wear on the lower edges, some chips in the varnish and a few minor dents. The cylinder scene and markings are clear. The action is excellent. This Model 1849 Colt Revolver is a truly unique original specimen of a factory nickel plated Colt percussion revolver!
