Manufactured by Sharps from 1859 to 1874, this particular pistol is a Model 1A that has factory engraving. It has a straight standing breech, straight grip to frame juncture, barrel release on the underside of the frame, and gutta-percha grips. The sides of the frame have a floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background with scrollwork on the breech and back strap. Wedges of engraved scrollwork are present on the breech end of the barrels with a light band of engraving at the muzzles. The butt is also engraved with the serial number inside a banner. The barrel cluster is numbered to the gun and the frame sides have the standard Sharps markings.

Condition: Fine. The pistol retains heavy amounts of original silver plating in and around the protected areas with the balance a mottled gray patina on the barrel cluster and the exposed brass having an attractive untouched patina. The grips are also fine with a very small chip missing near the bottom and a few minor handling marks. The barrel retraction catch screw is an incorrect replacement. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically fine.
