Rare Factory Documented Nickel-Plated Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle
This rare nickel finish Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle was manufactured in 1906. The rifle has a rare, special order, full nickel-plated finish with varnished walnut stock and forearm. Accompanying the rifle is a Cody Firearm Museum Fact Sheet. The Fact Sheet states that this rifle was shipped from the Winchester warehouse on January 20, 1906. The Fact Sheet describes the rifle as having a nickel finish, caliber 25-20 full octagon barrel and plain trigger. The rifle has a full octagon barrel with full-length magazine. The barrel has a front sight with nickel-silver blade and a sporting style rear sight. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN.CONN.U.S.A.PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884." ahead of the rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the caliber designation "25-20 W.C.F." behind the rear sight. Oval Winchester "W/P" proofmarks are stamped on the top of the barrel and the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped: "MODEL 1892 - WINCHESTER- / PAT. OCT. 14. 1884" in three lines. The serial number, "156340" is marked on the forward edge of the lower receiver.

Wear on the receiver, hammer and lever is limited to some finish loss on the edges and some minor, scattered, flaking and spotting. The crescent buttplate retains about 30% of the nickel-plated finish and has scattered age spotting. The barrel and receiver markings are sharp. The walnut stock and forearm are both in fine overall condition with some minor handling marks.
