Rare Engraved Presentation Triplett & Scott Repeating Rifle
This is an example of a custom engraved presentation Triplett & Scott repeating rifle. The barrel is 28 inches in length (originally made in 22 inch and 30 inch) equipped with a post front sight mounted on a concave base dove tailed to the barrel, standard folding rear leaf sight absent of graduation markings and there is a tang mounted peep sight. The receiver, trigger guard and around the lower tang screw are nicely floral scroll engraved with a punch dot background. The left side of the receiver is engraved "C.A. MILLER" in a panel amid the engraving and the top of the receiver is engraved "1866" in a panel amid the engraving. The rifle is un-serialized and is absent of any standard Triplett & Scott markings. The barrel is blue and the remaining parts were casehardened. Mounted with deluxe, nicely figured smooth forearm with a decorative pewter forend and German silver five point star screw escutcheons, iron carbine buttplate and gold oblong initial plaque inset near the toe.
